A longline jacket with a stand collar for workdays and weekends in the city

Ruth is a longline jacket for women that sits just past the hip and closes with three covered buttons. She wears it over jeans on a Saturday and over trousers on a Monday. It hangs open just as well as it buttons up, so one jacket covers both.

The collar stands upright at the neck instead of folding back, which keeps the neckline closed and tidy. Seams run from the shoulder down to the hem on both sides, drawing the waist in gently and letting the hem fall away over the hip. If jackets that stop at the waist are the reason you leave them on the rail, this one carries past it. The welt pockets sit at the hip, right where your hands land.

Wear it open over a white tank and straight jeans, or buttoned over a slip dress with ankle boots. Through autumn it goes over a thin knit without pulling across the shoulders, and on milder days it carries a shirt on its own. It comes in beige, gray, black and camel, sizes S to 2XL.

This is the jacket that ends up on the hook by the door rather than at the back of the closet. Pick the colour you reach for most and you will be reaching for it all season.
